This month we'll talk about one of the current centerman on the MN Wild team, # 10 Jordan Schroeder.
Schroeder was born in Prior Lake, MN, in the year 1990. He started playing hockey when he was four with the Lakeview Ponys, a team originally intended as a learn to skate program. in 2008 he went on to play though school and into playing for the U of M golden gophers where he was the youngest player on the team, having started college a year early. In his freshman year he managed to score 13 goals and 32 assists in 32 games. The second highest total on the team. He also managed to become the WCHA Rookie of the year. The first NHL team he played for were the Vancouver Canucks in 2013, before going on to play for the Wild in 2014.
In his hockey career he has proven that bigger doesn't always mean better, him being usually shorter and smaller built than most players is often seen as a disadvantage, but he's proved he's got more strength than most out on the ice. And though he's a powerhouse alone he proves he can be a real team player by mainly getting assisted goals with other teammates, rather than hogging the glory. And although he's a fresher face to the NHL, he's showing he has what it takes to play with the veterans, and that's why Jordan Schroeder is our MVP of the month.
Starting off with some simple baby steps. Up here in the north, we'll shine a spotlight on any random hockey player we can think of. It'll range anywhere from Mr. Hockey himself, Gordie Howe, to any rookie we stumble upon. But to sate your appetite for hockey here's a few pictures before we get started:
